What we know about you: almost nothing.

ClearMind was built for people who do not want a record of this anywhere. This page says exactly what we hold, why, and how to have it deleted — in full, not only the parts that make us look good.

The short version

  • No account, email, or password is required to use ClearMind.
  • The sites you visit, the sites that were blocked, your journal, your streak, and everything else about your day stay on your device. We cannot see them, and we do not ask to.
  • If you subscribe, the only thing that identifies you to us is a random id your device generates. We hold what the App Store or Google Play tell us about the purchase — nothing about how you use the app.
  • If you choose an accountability partner, they see a small number of events, such as protection being turned off, and never what you were looking at.
  • This website sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts.
  • The weekly letter is the one place we ask for an email address. It is optional, it is confirmed from your own inbox before anything is sent, and one click removes you.

What stays on your device

ClearMind’s core features work by storing data locally: a database on your phone, plus two smaller local stores for settings and keys. None of it is uploaded automatically, and none of it is visible to us. This includes:

  • Your Clear Mind streak and its history, including when and why it was reset
  • Urges you logged and how they resolved
  • Daily check-ins and their mood ratings
  • Journal entries and relapse reports
  • A record of when protection was turned on or off, paused, or tampered with
  • Any sites or apps you added to your own block or allow list
  • Your settings, including the “why” you wrote and any photo you attached to it

Deleting it

Uninstalling the app deletes all of the above. Inside the app, Settings → Privacy also lets you export or delete everything stored locally in one action, without uninstalling.

What we hold if you subscribe

Subscriptions are sold and billed by the App Store or Google Play, not directly by us — see “Subscriptions and billing” in the Terms of Service. What reaches our server is limited to what is needed to tell the app whether it is entitled to a paid feature:

  • A random identifier your device generates the first time you subscribe (passed to Apple as an appAccountToken and to Google as an obfuscatedAccountId) — the only thing linking a purchase to your installation
  • The product you bought, its status — active, expired, cancelled, or refunded — and its renewal or expiry date
  • The store you bought it through

How we verify a purchase

We verify every purchase directly with Apple or Google rather than trusting what the app reports, and we listen for the notifications they send when a subscription renews, lapses, or is refunded, so your access stays correct even while the app is closed. We do not ask for your name, email address, or payment details — the store collects those under its own privacy policy. If you write to support and ask us to attach an email to your record so we can help with a purchase problem, we store the one you send; otherwise we never see one.

If you add an accountability partner

An accountability partner is optional, and you choose who it is. In the version available today, a partner sets a 6-digit code on your device by hand; it is hashed before it is stored and never kept as plain text, and we never see it — the code lives only on your phone.

A future, fully online version of this feature will let a linked partner receive a small set of events: that protection was turned off or paused, that your streak reset, that an unlock request needs approval, and a weekly summary of your streak and how many urges you resisted. A partner never receives a site you visited, a search, a journal entry, or anything you wrote. Removing a partner is itself gated by the unblocking flow, the same as turning protection off.

This website

haveclearmind.com sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics, advertising, or social-media scripts. Nothing you do on this site is recorded: the breathing ritual runs entirely in your browser, and which lessons you read is not counted anywhere. Like any web server, our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs — IP address, browser, pages requested — for security and reliability. These are not used to build a profile of anyone and are not shared with advertisers.

The weekly letter, if you join it

The signup form on this site is the one place ClearMind asks for an email address, and it is entirely optional — it is a short letter once a week, and nothing in the app or on this site is behind it. If you enter an address, it is sent to Brevo, the mailing provider that stores the list and delivers the mail; it is not written into ClearMind’s own database, which holds no email addresses at all.

You are sent a confirmation link first and are not added until you click it, so nobody can put your address on this list but you. Every letter carries a one-click unsubscribe that takes effect immediately, and unsubscribing removes you from the list rather than marking you as quiet.

We do not know, and do not attempt to work out, whether a subscriber also uses the app. The form is deliberately unable to tell you whether an address is already subscribed, because on a list about this subject that question is nobody’s business but the subscriber’s. To have your address removed at any time, use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any letter — it takes effect immediately and needs nothing from us.

Analytics and crash reports

Product analytics in the app are off by default and stay off unless you turn them on in Settings → Privacy. If a crash report is sent, personal information is stripped from it before it leaves your device.

Who we share information with

We do not sell information, and we do not share it with advertisers. The limited purchase data described above is shared only with the infrastructure providers who host our database and, once a partner feature is linked, the service that delivers push notifications — each is bound to use it only to provide the service to you, not for a purpose of its own. If you joined the weekly letter, your email address is held by Brevo, our mailing provider, and used for nothing but sending you that letter. Apple and Google act as the merchant of record for a subscription, and their own privacy policies govern the payment itself.

How long we keep it, and your controls

On-device data stays until you delete it (Settings → Privacy → export or delete all data) or uninstall the app. Purchase records are kept for as long as needed to support your subscription and meet accounting obligations, then deleted or anonymized. You can ask at any time what we hold about your purchases, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Because so little is collected in the first place, most such requests are answered the same day.

Children

ClearMind is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. Its subject matter — blocking pornography — also makes it intended for an adult or near-adult audience more broadly; a parent setting it up for a younger person should hold the accountability partner code themselves.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how it is used. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with similar law, these are your rights under data protection law, and we process purchase data either to perform the subscription contract with you or under our legitimate interest in keeping that subscription accurate. If you are a California resident, the same request covers the rights state law gives you; we do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Security

The key that authorizes turning protection off is generated on your device and never leaves it. A partner’s code is hashed before storage. Purchases are verified against Apple’s and Google’s own signed responses rather than trusted at face value. No system is unbreakable; if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date below and, for a change that meaningfully reduces your privacy, say so on this page before it takes effect. Last reviewed 2026-09-21.
